Rivières des Prairies, QC - Musky

The Williams Wabler electric blue (W60EB) allowed me to capture this magnificent Musky, it is also very effective for all other fresh water sport fish species.

It is imperative to have several of them in your tackle box.

Stinson Lake, NH - Laker

My grandson, Cody Woodward 12 yrs old, from Orford, NH caught this 35" 18.1 pound
laker on one of your Junior Mooselook Wobbler ¼ oz, trolling down 5 colors using leadcore line.

We were at Stinson Lake in Rummey, NH on 6/5/2010, early afternoon on a very overcast day.

Thanks for the Lures you have on the market.

Snipe Lake, AB - Northern Pike
The big one that DID NOT got away!

Not this time!
After 25 minutes of fight, testing my fishing gear this 23 lb / 42 inch (10.432 kg/ 1.06 м.) northern pike surrendered.
A few minutes of taking pictures and measuring it and the fish was released.

Thanks to the Williams Bully this mission was accomplished.

There have always been Williams spoons in my fishing arsenal and there always will be!

Haliburton Highlands, ON - Speckled Trout

On a canoe trip in May '10 in the Haliburton Highlands, Ontario, I caught this huge speck casting the shoreline with an XD Brown Trout No.1. (XD1-BROWN)

The tricky thing is I was out in a canoe by myself at the time.
I had to reel the fish in and net it myself in a canoe.

Ontario - Musky

Here are some photos of my daughter Danielle and I with a 38 pound Muskie we caught while trolling with an electric blue (EB) Williams Wabler.

Danielle was trolling and hooked the fish but it was too big for her to bring in so I had to help. She did the best she could but the butt of the rod was hurting her ribs.  We got it to the boat and of course we didn't have a net large enough for this thing, so I had to grab it with my hands and lift it in the boat.  Then the excitement set in WOW what a memory with my little girl.

I have never used any other bait but Williams Wabler for trolling nothing works better

St-Zénon, QC - Speckled Trout

Here is a photo of my brother Serge and I at Réal Masse outfitters in St-Zénon Quebec on September 19th, 2009.

Not less than 20 speckled trout with our favorite lure, the Mepps Black Fury Yellow #3. We remove the treble hook and add an 18 inch a leader and a big live worm!!

Thank you for making such good products

Lake Memphremagog, QC - Touladi

A day on Lake Memphremagog, QC.
3 friends in a rowboat. Mathieu "La Bine" Lefebvre broke his rod!

Mooselook Thinfish Silver/Blue, thread of 8 lbs of resistance. Touladi 10.5 lbs.

Unforgettable memories.

Alberta - Northern

I caught this 40" Trophy Northern on a Williams Wabler W60EB Electric Blue!

What a fish! ( I am 6'2 and 350 to put this beast in proportion for you! )

Ontario - pike, crappie, bass

I caught these 3 fish using the red and white (RW) Williams Wabler.

I'm a pretty amateur fisherman but it goes to show by the photo of my pike, crappie and bass that the lure worked and caught all different kinds of fish.

Northern Algonquin Park, ON - Lakers

It was a snowy, windy May 24th in northern Algonquin park in Ontario with no fish in the boat. I switched up to a gold Mepps Syclops-2 (S2) and within minutes had landed the first fish of the day. This fish was the nicest of my 9 lakers caught over the next 2 hrs.

Syclops have been my go-to lure for a while, especially when conditions are tough. It has made a believer of all but the most stubborn of my fishing buds! We've already loaded up for this year's trip.

Lake Simcoe, ON - Whities

This picture is from Lake Simcoe, Ontario Jan 2010.

All the fish caught by all of us were on Williams Ice Jig half and half hammered (HN), this has been the lure of choice for whities this year.

This has not come off my rod this year….except to change side hooks that were bent. We all have been out at least a dozen times and limited on whities with the Williams.

Great lure! Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

Manic-5, Quebec - landlocked salmon

We caught lots of nice fish thanks to Williams silver and blue lures!

Quebec - Pike

The big one is a 9 lbs pike.

I told my fishing buddy that there was a fish over there and for once I was right.
First cast, first fish using a tri colored Syclops the best lure there was for 2009.
400 pike that year. 2009 was the year for the Gold Syclops.

If not that one the other will always work.  Keep popping out those lures, there greaaaat!

The 2nd picture; my 3 year old grandsons first fish, nearly as big as him and of course, yes, it was on a tri colored Syclops.

Quebec

This is from a whole day of fishing, my family and I in our secret fishing pond somewhere in Quebec Canada.

I am taking the time to send you this photo because Mooselook are my favorite lures. This day was particularly productive, using a Mooselook with a red accent.

My friends continue to hound me, wanting to know my secret place and which lures I fish but, if I win, they will have half of the answer lol :)

Lac La Ronge - Lake Trout

In early January we drove 40km across Lac La Ronge in northern Saskatchewan and caught several lake trout on Williams lures.

I caught 6 trout on the Williams Whitefish jigging in 40 ft of water. Another member of the party caught 2 lake trout jigging a Williams Wabler that he had borrowed from me.

After we returned, another of our group went to the local hardware store and cleaned them out of their stock of Williams Whitefish.

Lake Albanel - beautiful lake trout

My friend Guy Robert and I fish often and have a lot of success using your lures.

Outing to ‘ a fisherman's paradise', Lake Albanel – 13 hours driving to get there, what a stretch of water!  Our favorite lure, the Williams Wabler W60EB (electric blue), walleye, pike and especially this beautiful 14 lb lake trout…

What surprises us is that all sorts of fish like the Williams Wabler W60EB electric blue.

Quebec Park - 1st Walleye

This past June I took my son Alex, 11 years old,  into a Quebec park to fish for Walleye.
This was his first time fishing for Walleye.
He decided to use a Little Wolf - Silver 1/4 oz.
After about 3 casts this is what he landed.
6 lbs 5 oz blue Walleye.

Rhône River - France - Wels Catfish
This is a more than respectable fish at 2.08 meters / 70 kilograms // 6.8 feet – 154 lbs. It was caught on an S3 Syclops silver/red Mepps and roughly 15 lb test line.
Following a memorable fight including a blistering 200 meter / 600 foot run in just a few seconds and 2 kilometers / 1-1/2 miles of river drifted while fighting this trophy, I finally managed to land this impressive Wels catfish.

I drift fish from a boat on the Rhône River between Vernaison and Vienne near Lyon. This river system has Pike, Zander (walleye) and since roughly 15 years Wels catfish, a species imported from Eastern Europe. They have successfully established themselves without disrupting the other species in my opinion, one that is not shared by many other people in France. There are many caught in the 1 to 1.5 meter // 5 to 20 kilogram range.

The standard technique is to drift through the deeper pools with a weight and a ball of worms or chunks of baitfish presented just off bottom. This technique works well but I find it slow and tedious. I prefer to be active and casting my Syclops

I have tried dozens of different lures in my life, of all sizes, shapes and colors. My lure of choice and the one that has caught me more fish and bigger fish is a Syclops.
This spoon has the advantage of being multi species. You can catch a perch, a pike or an enormous Wels on this lure, as the photo attests to. It starts to work as soon as it hits the water and doesn't need to be weighted. The fish seem to be always hooked on the treble hook at the corner of their mouths making a steel leader really not necessary.

Bravo to Mepps for this great product that is perfect the way it is.

Lake Superior - Musky

The late Muskie!
On an evening I was fishing with two friends on a boat on the Lac Supérieur in Quebec, hadn't had a bite in the whole night when just before we left I casted near a dock, pomped really fast, and got a bite. A nice muskie of 6,5 pounds (if i recall) with a W50 red and white wabler william as the bait. The red and white is a win on muskies and pikes!!

Canoe Lake, Northern Saskatchewan - Jackfish

We just came home from our annual family fishing trip to Canoe Lake in Northern Sask today after 5 days on the lake.  This is a picture of my husband, my son and myself after our daily fishing.  We caught both of these jackfish on a Williams Wabler W50 pink.  The fish were wild over them all week, they loved the silver sparkle of the hook.  We had two pink Williams and I had a fish snap my line and took mine!!!  I am going to find and buy a few more pinks to put back in the tackle box.

Atlantic Pyrenes - Fario Trout

The first outing of the year finds me on the water at 5 o'clock in the late afternoon in the region of Artiguelouve in the Atlantic Pyrenes on Gave de Pau waters. On my third cast with a C2 silver Mepps Comet I hook into a superb 54 cm Fario trout and the battle is on, it fought very well. A great beginning to what is announcing itself as a very good season.

Whitefish Lake, Wawa, ON - Pike
Got to the lodge on Sat afternoon. Picked up a limit of eater size walleyes in the evening.
Went out on Sunday up the river & tried for pike...........Only got one........20 minutes of work & it wouldn't fit in the net. Had to throw a towel over it & drag it in the boat !!

22# and 46" long.
My wife & son had grabbed the heavy rigged pike rods, & I was left with a light action rig with 10 LB test we had been using for walleye. I was going to tie on a hot n tot & try for small mouth bass along a small incoming creek channel while they cast for pike. I happened to see a blue & silver Williams spoon with a short steel leader lying in the top of the tackle box and tied it on instead. On the 1st cast I felt something bump it & I reeled in to check for weeds. 2nd cast.....nothing. On the 3rd cast.......kaboom !!  Fought him for 20 minutes......He ran my reel out of line twice as there was only about 100 feet of line on it since we had lost line while jigging the rocks for walleye the evening before. My son had to paddle the boat in the direction the fish was swimming to keep my line from breaking.

When I got it in the boat, I found the treble hooks on the spoon to be in both the roof & bottom of the pikes mouth.......He really nailed it & wasn't going anywhere ! The spoon was a little bent up from the fight, but held up well.

Thanks for a great quality product. Going back up again in August & can't wait to try for more.

Lake Sans Coeur - Trout
François caught three trout of 4lbs and one of 5lbs with the NEW Williams Flasher in the Silver color, (F1S-S).  Because the water was very high and the fish were staying a safe distance away, he decided to run 5' of line behind the Flasher.   This did the trick as he was the only fishman to go home that day with the Trout.

Black River, Acton Vale, QC - Walleye
On an autumn evening, just before midnight, I caught a fish of a beautiful golden color. I was pleasantly surprised and happy of this catch, but I knew the fish were there because of the one that had gotten away on me the week before. The most surprising was I wanted a musky.  But I have to say that since that day, I do not leave without my lure!  24 inches, close to 5 lbs – good for the moral.

Caught in Acton Vale on the Black River.

Max Reynolds - Lifelong Angler at 101 yrs old
Max Reynolds doesn't have a lot of photographs of his angling adventures.
Instead, he has a wealth of memories – of fish, of lakes, and of dear friends and loved ones long past. And these recollections, hooked and landed from more than 90 years of fishing, still seem to put a gleam in his eyes. There's little doubt that Max, who celebrates
his 101st birthday on May 14, is perhaps Ontario's most long-lived and experienced angler. He first wet a line in 1916, at the tender young age of 8. The place was Paudash Lake and he recalls being fascinated as his neighbour Mr. Wadsworth caught bass using a fishing pole, hook, and worms. That summer, young Max caught a slew of grasshoppers and decided to try them as bait. Much to his delight, he caught bigger bass than his mentor, and a lifelong love affair with fishing began. His education as an angler was furthered by a family move to the Maxwell Settlement just outside of Bancroft. There,
he recalls spending a happy childhood chasing speckled trout in the local cricks.“They were everywhere back then,” he says. Spend any time at all with this surprisingly spry old gentleman and you'll realize that he is a walking encyclopedia of local lakes and the fish that inhabit them. He states, matter of factly, that “I fished just about every lake in the country.” Though he doesn't get out as much as he used to, he fished for brook trout in a local pond as recently as two years ago – and, characteristically, he caught several. For more than nine decades, Max went fishing every chance he could. He'd ice fish in the winter months and take to the water, trolling for his beloved trout or walleye, from ice out until season's end. Yet, despite this, his advice on angling success is relatively terse. “I'd just tell anyone to get out there and catch fish. You'll learn a bit from each outing and from each person you fish with.” When it comes to techniques, gear, and lures, he kept it simple. His largest boat was a 14-foot aluminum, which he praised as stable, and his largest outboard a 9.9. His preferred angling tactic is trolling. He used steel line and says you couldn't go wrong with a gold or silver Williams Wabler or a Dardevle, depending on the lake. “There are probably better lures out there, but these worked fine.” Splake, and brook trout always had a special place in his heart too and he preferred fishing for the latter in lakes rather than streams. “They grow bigger in lakes,” he says. When I asked him how many fish he has caught, he smiles and says, “If they were all put in a pile, it  would be a big one. But nothing ever went to waste. We appreciated every one.” Despite having caught so many fish, Max confessed that he never caught a really big one. “I once caught a 9.5-pound pickerel and some 3-pound specks, and lake trout that were near 10 pounds, but never anything much larger.” He steps into his sitting room and then returns with a photo of him holding a 36-inch pike, nearing 10 pounds. It's interesting, but not nearly as fascinating as the platinum blonde wig he's wearing in the photo. He shrugs and smiles about it. “We had a good laugh that day.” It doesn't take long to realize that this was probably the norm. He still seems a very happy man. Reminiscing of the old days, he says that angling was much better then. “There were fewer people fishing these lakes then. There was less pressure on them.” The difference between then and now, he says, is that there were not as many regulations, and limits were more generous. Access was more difficult too. He tells stories about getting to lakes by horse and camping for three or four days at a time. There's a sense of adventure that flows out of his words and you can't
help but admire him for living in what was a less complex time. Each tale he tells still seems crisp in his mind – the names, the places, the number of fish caught. “Most of those people are gone now,” he says, “and the country has changed. There are not many specks in the cricks anymore.” These days, he spends his time listening to music – he loves gospel – attending Bible study classes three times a week, and entertaining visitors. Incredibly, he still lives alone, though he says that his daughter, family, and friends look after him very well. Though his angling days are probably over, fishing still remains in his thoughts. And in fact, it figures prominently in his theory as to why he's so long lived.
“Fishing and the life I led kept me outside in the fresh air. And I never smoked or drank either.” Would he change anything? “No,” he says, “I have no regrets at all. It has been a good way to spend a life.”

Whitefish and Lake Trout - Lake Simcoe

Lake St. Clair – Musky

There are some key areas in the Windsor, Ontario area where we can cast for Musky from shore in the fall for monsters.  Last fall was an outstanding Musky casting season and the Mepps Musky Killer was there to help make these fresh water sharks strike!  This Musky was one of the most exciting ones I have ever caught from shore.  A friend and I were casting crank baits and doing okay catching about 2 each, but smaller ones in the high 30 low 40 inch range.  He said there has to be big ones out there!  I made the switch up to the Mepps Musky Killer and on the 3'rd cast I felt a swipe but no fish, kept reeling and felt another swipe but still no fish now I can see my lure coming in but with a giant gator lurking behind it!!!  I watched him slam the Mepps about 8 feet in front of me, jump out of the water and took off like a train with the drag screaming!  After a good fight I landed the 51 inch 33LB Ski.  I guess he just wasn't going to let that tasty treat get away from him, and I am glad he took it!  Many others have fallen victim to the Mepps after that!

Lake Erie – Steelhead & Walleye

Two friends and I made many trips to Lake Erie last summer for the Steelhead run.  But this day was one to remember!  Williams spoons were just on fire!  We were running 2 downriggers and 3 Dipsey Divers.  When we first set up the rods there was 3 Williams spoons on and 2 Michigan Stingers.  Within the first hour it was very clear that the Rainbow Trout and Walleyes preferred the Williams!  So we switched to all 5 rods having Williams spoons and the action really heated up!  Several double headers and pretty much non stop action for the rest of the day.  Ended up with 13 Steelies and 11 Walleyes.  Williams Quick Silver and Whitefish were just to tempting for them to resist!  Can't wait to do it again!  We now only run Williams spoons when trolling Lake Erie in the summer months, can't argue with results!

Nice Musky

I landed this 51" Musky this summer using a Mepps Giant Killer that I had just picked up. I added the dressed hook that I tie myself.  After the 15 minute fight and a few pictures, the fish was successfully released to fight another day.

Whopper Northern

I had just had another northern pike straighten out the locking swivel on my steel leader and lost a W50 gold Wabler. I immediately tied a new leader on and put on a W50 red and white Williams Wabler. This 42 inch northern pike hit the lure as soon as it hit the water, then the fight was on. This fish was caught on Jessiman Lake north of Nakina, Ontario, Canada. It is the biggest one I ever caught on any of theses fly-in trips!!!

Bree's First Laker

After about 3 hours on the water with my brother-in-law and niece Briana, my niece locks into her very first laker on a Williams C90 Whitefish silver.  After 15 minutes of battling with this 12 lb brute, we land it cleanly.  This stands as the largest Lake Trout landed in my boat.  Way to go Briana!  You're welcome in my boat any day.

The one that got away!! Off the stringer!

Was able to land this 35 inch pike, got him in the boat and put him on the stinger and back in the water... only to then see the stinger came unclasped but still through his mouth! Slowly I bent down and raised the leader on the stringer; he flared his gills and gave a little shake. Well... you can guess the rest. Mr. Pike will be caught another day. I did catch 2 the day before on this same Williams Whitefish 28 and 25 inches. My best producing lure! I did throw away the stinger...

First Walleye

My friends and I were up on a tributary of the French River in Ontario for a "girl's weekend", and I caught my very first walleye on the "lure of choice" at the fish-camp: the Williams Wabler gold/silver (that's me in picture #1). We all fished with the same Wabler lures for the whole trip and we caught plenty of fish each and every day: pickerel (walleye), pike, even perch! Donna and Walinda are pictured with Donna's first big catch, and Ann chipped in with a nice-sized pike...all on Wablers!!! Thanks for helping to bring 'em into the boat, Williams!!!

Wabler Heaven

In the upper peninsula of Michigan the pike were few and far between until an old guy at the camp recommended that I try a Williams Wabler.  What's a Wabler I asked? He gave me a couple to try. Bam the pike couldn't leave it alone. Never seen anything like it, the silver and gold were working very well. What is it about this lure? Anyone fishing for pike needs this lure.  This is my wife's first pike on the Wabler. She is hooked more than I am.

St Lawrence River Northern

As I came home from school I grabbed my rod and went down to the river for a few casts before supper. On my first cast I saw the pike follow my lure in and turn at the last minute. A few casts later he was on. What a fight to get him in and out of the water. It was an 80cm Northern I caught on a Williams Wabler. Nice fish.

Algonquin Park Lakers

My brother and I were getting skunked on a new lake in Algonquin Park.  I finally found my silver Williams Wabler, started trolling behind the canoe, and landed a 20" laker 5 minutes later.  It was the first of several fish, and made sure I had a birthday shore lunch!

Two 28" Northerns in 30 mins.

I went for visit with some family friends near St. Michel des Saints, Quebec, and brought my rod and reel to try out my new Mister Twister Firetiger Top Prop lure I had just bought. Within the first 15 minutes I had my first of two Northerns caught from the shore with the Top Prop, right out of the box.  I only fished for about 30 minutes that day and had about 6 hits on this great lure.  From now on this Top Prop by Mister Twister is my lure of choice in shallow weedy water. Especially when fishing from shore.

Dartee really works

It was a super hot day. We were at Lake Manitou on Manitoulin. It was mid afternoon and I got restless and told Nancy "I'm just going out to play for an hour." 20 minutes later I had on a 12 1/2 pound laker using the Williams Dartee. This lure is "stupendous" for lakers at the lake that supplies roe for most of Ontario's laker stocking programs. Later on I also got another 12 pounder here at home on Colpoys Bay out of Wiarton.....on the same lure.  Cheers from Wiarton Willie country.

Lake Simcoe- A season to Remember!!!

I've fished Simcoe for years now. I always have decent success out there. But man this year was off the hook! (not literally) I used only Williams Ice Jigs all season.
Nu wrinkle 1/2 & 1/2 was my go to in both sizes. But I caught fish on every colour they come in! I was never skunked out there and had many double digit fish days.
I out fished my friends using minnows so bad they all quit buying them and filled there boxes with Williams. What an awesome season! Thanks a bunch guys :)

Bahamas Barracuda

The Williams Whitefish in the larger sizes is a great lure for barracuda on the saltwater flats.  Throw it out past the fish and bring it back as fast as you can reel and most of the time the fish will take it in a rush.  The light weight of the Whitefish allows it to be fished in only a foot or so of water if you get it started back immediately.  It is stable at high speeds which are the barracuda's favorite.
Photo is of 25 pound barracuda taken on Williams Whitefish in the Bahamas.

The 3'rd of September 2007 I was fishing Lake Mistassini in northern Quebec. I landed this beautiful 8 lb Speckled trout after a hard fought battle and another one of 7 lbs as well.  The photo of the Walleye was taken in June on Lake Opemiska.

Fishing for Chinook's

I was salmon fishing in August 2007 at Port Hope, Ontario. I got two nice 30 lbs Chinook's on a Mepps #2 Syclops glow series and Mepps Anglia #5 glow series spinner.  Boy, what a fight! I also got a nice 9 lbs Rainbow trout on a Mepps Little Wolf spoon. This is one of the best spoons I have used. Thanks and good fishing!

Syclops Northerns

On a beautiful fall October day in the islands area of Sorel QC on the St. Lawrence River, the Mepps Syclops once again proved its worth. Once I arrived in the bay I didn't hesitate about which lure to throw. Cast after cast northerns were following in my silver Syclops #3. Close to 20 northerns in 2 hours which were all released made for an unforgettable memory. My friend Germain even caught a walleye on a Syclops I had lent him. The first Walleye he had ever caught. WOW!
Thank you Syclops you will always be in my box.

Big late fall speckled trout
On a clear & cold late fall morning we pushed off onto Lake Molard which is 6 hours north of Latuque Qc. I started to fish using an Electric Blue Williams Wabler (EB) and this was the result. Hats off to Williams.

Merrill Creek Reservoir in Western New Jersey is home to some excellent Lake Trout fishing. Cold clear water and depths reaching 200 feet, it is truly a wonderful place for fishing all species of fish. On this day we were trolling with Williams W40 and W50 Wabler lures. Always a surprise to see what hits a Williams Wabler!

A 4-1/2 lb Walleye taken on a classic yellow Mister Twister Curly Tail. A proven and effective lure when the Walleye are wary on Lake St-Pierre!

A photo from opening day of a 20 and ¼ inch Brown taken using one of my favorite lures, a 2 & ¾ inch Williams Dartee D2. I thought I had seen a follow and on my second cast the hit was almost immediate. Each season I land a number of trophys like this one with my Dartees.

Jean-François is all smiles over his 4-1/2 year old sons first Bass. Yan-Phillip was jigging a Williams Wabler frog pattern over the side of the boat when the samll-mouth hit. He can't wait to get back out on the water with his Dad!

I was really looking forward to the smaller 0 & 00 Syclops being available and as an added bonus they came with the new smaller 112 & 115 series Mooselook Wobblers. This summer the fishing was tough at times. The fish were visible on the sonar but wouldn't take the traditional trolled presentations. The solution was to vertically jig these small jewels. I am looking forward to trying them through the ice this winter.

It runs in the family.
Mr. Vic Williams was kind enough to send us these photos of Catherine Williams holding a nice catch of dinner size lake trout and Catherine Williams and Lucas McMillan with a 3 lb speckled trout.
These photos are of particular interest for 2 reasons. Catherine is the great - great grand daughter of A.D. Williams who designed the Williams Wabler. Lucas is his great – great grandson. Both of these photos were taken on Lake Kawagama in Ontario where the Wabler was first tested and perfected and where the Williams family still maintains their summer residence.

My Grandfather, friends & I went to Burntwood Lake to fish pike. Our friends gave us a Williams Wabler GN (Gold Nu-Wrinkle); 1st day caught a 37”, 40" and lots of smaller pike; 2nd day this 42", 16-1/2 lb pike - what a fight! I won't leave the US without a Williams Wabler ever again.

Mastigoughe Reserve record
Hello fellow fishermen. I have been trying to set the speckled trout record in the Mastigouche reserve since 1972. I was fishing the head waters of a chain of speckled trout lakes when I got the surprise of my life. After landing a beautiful 3 lb speckled trout this monster came to the boat after a 30 minute battle on 6 lb test line. A 4.5 kilogram 10 lb Rainbow trout.
A proud fisherman
